On a stormy summer day with lightening and thunder rattling the property all day long and well into the night, 75 CEO members and guests gathered at beautiful and historic The Woodstock Inn to network and engage in some substantive discussions around health care reform and social media strategies before retiring to the cocktail reception and dinner.
Members heard presenters from US Senator Bernie Sanders’ office describe the federal health care reform opportunities and imperatives; Anya Rader Wallack describe the path that Governor Shumlin has articulated and that the legislature has enacted; and Bea Grause describe the outstanding and unresolved issues that must be addressed, and a reaction panel of Larry Sudbay and Paul Millman offer diverse reactions.
Panelists from the world of social media addressed the ways in which this strategic imperative has helped various companies become more attuned to the needs and interests of their customers, while serving as an early warning system from the marketplace. Representatives from Dealer.com, Country Home Products, and hearforward effectively told attendees to “do or die”.
During dinner, Chair Steve Voigt presented Ross and Gail Anderson, founders of the Nordic Educational Trust, with a handsome carafe from Simon Pearce; our expression of gratitude and thanksgiving for the work they have done together to improve the educational opportunity for Vermont students. Lisa Ventriss read a thank you letter from one of this year’s scholarship recipients, and another student addressed the members directly, thanking them for making her nursing degree and dream come true.
