1st Quarter 2014 Survey Results Show Positive Outlook

(South Burlington, Vt.)  Today Lisa Ventriss, President of Vermont Business Roundtable (VBR) and Jeffrey Carr, President, Economic & Policy Resources (EPR), announced the 1st Quarter results of their joint initiative, the VBR-EPR Business Conditions Survey.  The survey, which is conducted quarterly, is the next generation of the Roundtable’s economic outlook surveys that began in 2004, and provides a more meaningful and predictive index going forward. The new economic indicator, constructed as a Diffusion Index, is designed to follow economic sentiments of Roundtable members over time, and serve as a tool for analyzing and presenting insight into the Vermont economic outlook, as a leading economic indicator. (South Burlington, Vt.)  Today Lisa Ventriss, President of Vermont Business Roundtable (VBR) and Jeffrey Carr, President, Economic & Policy Resources (EPR), announced the 3rd Quarter results of their new joint initiative, the VBR-EPR Business Conditions Survey.  The survey, which is conducted quarterly, is the next generation of the Roundtable’s economic outlook surveys that began in 2004, and provides a more meaningful and predictive index going forward. The new economic indicator, constructed as a Diffusion Index, is designed to follow economic sentiments of Roundtable members over time, and serve as a tool for analyzing and presenting insight into the Vermont economic outlook, as a leading economic indicator. This decision by the Air Force will sustain a 50 million dollar per year resource for our community and continue a proud tradition of excellence by the Vermont Air National Guard. The Vermont Business Roundtable also wants to recognize and praise the leadership of Senator Leahy, Senator Sanders, Representative Welch, Governor Shumlin, Mayor Weinberger and Council Presidents Mackenzie and Shannon. A coalition of Vermont organizations committed to health care reform in Vermont has commissioned a study examining key assumptions used in estimating the cost of providing all Vermonters with health care coverage.

The study was conducted by Avalere Health, LLC, a Washington-based analytical group, for Vermont Partners for Health Care Reform (VPHCR), a coalition that includes Fletcher Allen Health Care, the Vermont Association of Hospitals and Health Systems, the Vermont Medical Society, the Vermont Business Roundtable, the Vermont Chamber of Commerce,  the Vermont Assembly of Home Health and Hospice Agencies,  and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont (BCBSVT). The Roundtable applauds the recently executed Memorandum of Understanding between Addison County Regional Planning Commission and Vermont Gas Systems that addresses service to communities, energy efficiency, public safety, community engagement and conditions of construction during the Phase I of the Addison Natural Gas Project. With its 41 miles of new natural gas transmission pipeline in Chittenden and Addison Counties; approximately 5 miles of new distribution mainlines in Addison County; and new gate stations in Williston, St. George, Monkton, New Haven and Middlebury, it is a tremendously important infrastructure project worthy of support for several reasons.
